Cystitis More >>
Cystitis is common in women. A 3 day course of antibiotics is a common
treatment. It clears quickly without complications in most cases.
Conjunctivitis More >>
With infective conjunctivitis one or both eyes become red or pink, they may be sticky or watery and may have surface irritation. Most cases soon clear.
Antibiotic drops or ointments are common treatments but are not always needed.
Gastroenteritis with Acute Diarrhoea in Adults More >>
Gastroenteritis causes diarrhoea and/or vomiting. It is due to an infection in the
gut. The main risk is dehydration. The main treatment is to give the child lots to
drink. Special rehydration drinks are sometimes advised.
Back Pain More >>
About 3 in 4 people have one or more bouts of back pain. Most bouts soon ease
and are not due to serious back problems. The usual advice is to keep active.
Painkillers are helpful until the pain eases.
Vaginal Thrush More >>
Many women have an occasional bout of thrush. Treatment is usually easy and
effective.
Ear wax More >>
If you think your ears are blocked with wax make an appointment with the nurse for irrigation of the ear canal. You then need to use olive oil drops for 3- 5 days before the appointment to soften the wax .
